Australian television proved to be very fertile soil for The Price is Right; the Larry Emdur version is actually the fifth version of TPIR to air in Australia. (The first known international version of TPIR was a regional version that aired only in Sydney from 1957-57, only a year after Bill Cullen’s version debuted).
The 1993 Larry Emdur version is based on an earlier 30-minute version that aired from 1981-1985. The show consisted of three pricing games, followed by the day’s top two winners competing in the “Showcase Playoff”, based on the short-lived Double Bullseye game on the American show. The first contestant to nail the exact price advanced to a single-player final round, where they could win the showcase by ordering all the prizes from least expensive to most expensive.
