Lights, camera, action! Take a pictorial tour of famous Stage 33 at CBS Television City.
Here is a shot of stagehands moving the Big Wheel into place for the “Showcase Showdown.” They roll it onto its mark from the hallway outside the studio, through door #2, and of course this is all concealed from the audience. Note the stagehand in the blue striped shirt to the right…he’s plugging the electrical cord into the outlet between the big doors so that the flashing lights and scoreboard will operate.Here’s a nice shot of a Showcase Showdown in progress. The camera pictured is getting the close-up of the contestant’s face as the wheel lands on one of the values. The lady to the right of the camera in the red sweater is there to escort losing contestants away from the action.This shot was taken right before rehearsal is started. All cameras are positioned at a central figure to test picture quality and color blend.Line Em Up is rolled on stage during rehearsal. The mannequin seen is nicknamed Zelda.
