Lucky Seven
The only game where a car is driven out on stage, and the second game (after Grocery Game) to use cash as a prop.
The contestant begins with seven $1 dollar bills. One at a time, the contestant guesses each digit in the price of the car, going from left to right. Correctly guessing a digit means that they keep all of the money they have; an incorrect guess means that for every number high or low the contestant’s guess was off from the actual number, they must pay a $1 penalty before moving on.
If the contestant loses all their money at any point, the game is over. But if they have any money left after revealing the entire price, they can buy the car for just one dollar!
Lucky Seven has been frequently played ever since its creation. It’s a relatively quick but often exciting car game, with unique strategy. Quite a few contestants have come down to the final dollar early and then plucked victory out of the air anyways!

The Price is Right gives away many fabulous prizes, and Bob has a SPECIAL prize for Lynda… CASH!

SEVEN WHOLE DOLLARS WORTH!

And if she has any of that money left at the end of the game, for just $1 she can buy this 1973 Chevy Vega!

Lucky Seven’s her game. She’ll have to guess each digit in the price of the Vega, and she’ll have to come close enough to save at least one of her seven dollars by the end.

Bob asks Lynda for the first digit in the price of the Vega, and she guesses a 3…

…it’s a 2.

Off by one, so Lynda hands Bob $1 for her mistake.

Her guess for the next number was 8, so she’s off by two. Lynda hands Bob another $2. Two down, two to go!

Her guess for the third number? 8… and she’s EXACTLY RIGHT!

Lynda makes sure all $4 remaining is accounted for.

Bob reminds her she can miss the final number by as much as three and still have $1 left to buy the car. Lynda takes the crowd’s advice, and goes right down the middle guessing 5…

She’s only off by two… she’s a winner!

She hands Bob $2 for being off by two, and $1 to “purchase” the car. She made it with an extra dollar to spare!

Pamela’s not off to such a hot start. She’s lost $5 already, and she’s got to cover the final two digits with only $2 left. For the third digit, she takes a risk and guesses 9…

Yikes! Game’s over already!

$7,010 might be the meanest price ever used in this game.

Lavon has guessed ALL THREE of the first numbers right on the nose! With $6 to spare, she’s practically guaranteed to win, as long as she doesn’t guess…

…a zero. She had a win locked up, but somehow missed the last number by eight! One of the most painful moments in Lucky Seven history!
S11, Jun 21 1984

Charon, a college student, has promised her roommate in the audience that if she won a Pontiac Fiero, she’d give it to her… and that’s the EXACT model she’s playing for! She’s on the last number with $5 left, this should be easy…

WHAT ON EARTH? Her roommate is saying 2 for the final number!

You might be able to predict what happened next.
S15, Aug 21 1986 (Primetime)

They’re offering a Trans Am in primetime! Time for FIVE DIGIT Lucky Seven!

For these few primetime specials and very briefly in daytime, they experimented with giving the contestant the last digit for free. Keith’s got $5 left, and he says the third digit is 6…

Um… they didn’t show the third digit!

“Now Keith, what do you suppose is the FOURTH number in the price of the car?” Needless to say, he won!
S19, Mar 22 1991

Cathy asked if she could take a look at the car before guessing an eight. Bob asked her what he saw that made her say eight; Cathy responded “It’s not fully loaded!”

“DO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME I’M GIVING AWAY AN UNLOADED TRUCK?!?!?!”

When she nailed the first digit, she threw her money in the air, thinking she’d won! Not yet, Cathy, you still have three digits to go!
S26, Feb 12 1998

Glen set a record in 1998, nailing three digits exactly and winning Lucky Seven with $6 left!

And this was the price… be honest, could YOU have won this car?

She mistook the clutch for the brake!
S37, Nov 3 2008

Uh oh… Taylor is down to his final $1, and he still has two numbers to go. His only hope of winning is to get both of them exactly right…

WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT?!? Taylor nailed them both!
S39, Apr 1 2011

Yikes! Not again, Rachel!
(April Fools! The doors were prefitted with cardboard walls.)
S43, Apr 01 2015

And April Fools 2015 surprised the audience by having a 91-year-old Bob Barker walk through the doors and host Lucky Seven before handing the mic back over to Drew. Lucky Seven would be the final game Bob ever hosted.
S47, May 31 2019

21 years after Glen’s record, Stephanie pulled off the impossible, and played Lucky Seven PERFECTLY. She nailed every single digit in this $24,635 Nissan Frontier!
S51, Oct 31 2022

Arrgh! Halloween 2022 had a pirate theme, and what better prize be befitting a pirate than a sailboat?

Aye, matey, we be goin’ back to the roots of ye olde four-digit Lucky Seven for this here playing!
S53, Feb 26 2025
