Switcheroo
A game on The Price is Right played for a car, and four small prizes.
A board with five prizes is shown, each missing the tens digit. Five numbered blocks with the five missing tens digits are supplied, and the contestant must match them up with the correct prices.
After the contestant locks in their guess, they are shown how many they have right; they may decide to lock them in or pull a “switcheroo” on the blocks they believe to be incorrect. After the second guess is locked in, any prizes with the correct price are won.

…AND four small prizes! A vacuum, a cosmetics set, a can opener, and a car seat.

All of it can be hers playing Switcheroo! Each of the five prizes has one number missing.

Evelyn’s task is to fill in the correct numbers with these five blocks! One, two, three… GO!

Evelyn puts the “4” in the price of the camper, and “3” in the price of the can opener. Did she nail all five?

Nope. She’s only got one right.

“Now, why do you suppose we call this game ‘Switcheroo’?” Evelyn decides to use her second chance!

Evelyn reshuffles everything! She puts the “6” in the camper, the “3” in the vacuum, and the “2” in the can opener.

Two right! “I hope one of them is the camper!” opines Evelyn.

“Oh, you do?” purrs Bob. “I thought you’d rather have the CAN OPENER!”

She won that can opener! Did she win the camper as well?

Aww, no such luck.

She needed the “3” in the price of the camper. She had the “6” in the cosmetics the first time around but switched it away.

Elisabeta missed every single prize on her first attempt, and she tries a complete overhaul for her second turn.

She only got one prize… but it was the CAR!

Here’s a tricky situation! Cynthia has 3 right on her first turn. Does she stay with 60% odds of winning the car, or risk it on a final switcheroo?

Against the boos of the audience, she takes her second chance, and swaps the car and coffee maker.

Bob is worried Cynthia has lost the car, but Cynthia assures him, “I drink coffee a lot!”

SHE NAILED ALL FIVE! Bob, stunned, asks her how she knew to do that. Cynthia responded, “The coffee makers I buy are more than $44!”

The Switcheroo board got a minor update in 1985 to accomodate 5-digit car prices. The stripes on the left and right halves of the board remain different sizes to this day.

For some contestants, the timer proved to be both a blessing and a curse… some contestants got baited into trying to use their “extra” time to make a few more swaps before locking in, only to mix things up further.

…Claudia placed the blocks according to his instructions. Since it was a two-person job, Tyler was given 45 seconds.

“They usually have a time limit on this, but unfortunately, that’s not working today.” Bob placed the blocks for James.

Aaron only got one right his first go. He polls the audience as to where he should put the “3”…

…and won a car for his efforts!

It’s a primetime Million Dollar Spectacular, how about playing for a new CADILLAC?

As if that weren’t enough, there’s a MILLION DOLLAR bonus at stake for Denise if she manages to get all five right on the first try! (Only six known Switcheroo players in history have managed that feat.)

Oh no… she took the chance, but now she only has one right!

Fortunately for Estella, it was the car!

That car’s worth over $109,000! Good luck!

In primetime, this playing of Switcheroo has a special twist… one of the small prizes has a bonus attached.

No SUV, but Devin won a bonus of a $12,000 shed and ATV! Not too shabby!
