2 for the Price of 1

Played for two prizes: a large prize, and a smaller one worth between $100-$999.

A contestant is shown two sets of three-digit numbers. They must guess the price of the three-digit prize using those numbers. After being given one digit of their choice for free, the contestant must chose which of the the two remaining pairs digits will form the price of the three-digit prize. If correct, they win both prizes… two for the price of one!

This game seems to have been created to be a companion for Safe Crackers with their similar prizes offered. Notable for being the first game whose creation was attributed to Bob Barker.

Two women stand beside a colorful game board labeled '2 for the Price of 1', with numbers 547 and 380 displayed. The background features a digital image of the Colosseum in Italy.

It’s the premiere of 2 for the Price of 1, and Kelly is playing for an electric range and a spa!

She’ll win both prizes if she can guess the price of the range. The first number in the price is 7 or 4, the second 6 or 1 and the third 9 or 3.

To help Kelly out, she can choose one digit to be given for free. She chose the third digit, which is the 9.

Kelly then picks 7 for the first digit…

..and 1 for the second, setting the price to $719. Janice has her fingers crossed and Holly prays as Bob says “Light up that price!”

The lights flashing and the models clapping indicate a win!

The first player, and the first winner! Kelly has achieved two historic moments for the price of one!

Even at age 71, Bob is still very observant. He announced there was a flaw on this show:

The “3” on the game board was upside-down! He noticed it was bigger on the top.

Indeed, the number was inserted wrong! Aa Bob said “Ya gotta watch the details, know what I mean?!”

Uh-oh! With a 6 for 6 show on the line Christy unwisely chose to use her free digit for the first number… especially considering that it was rather obviously was NOT going to be the 1!

Proving holiday miracles DO happen, Christy did win the Christmas village and the grandfather clock!

Merry Christmas! The perfect show is saved!

Rod might have made his most embarrassing mistake when he announced that the next Item Up for Bids was “a barbecue and a new car!”

The contestants and audience stopped applauding in stunned silence until Rod found the right copy.

“No, no, no, a lovely dinette group!”, Rod corrected himself, and proceeded to break down laughing while describing the prize, not being helped at all by the additional Libman Wonder Mop blurb added at the end.

Even Bob was momentarily flustered: “Roger…err, Rod? Would you like a glass of water?”…

…”Or a glass of SOMETHING?!”

Archie won the dinette and ended up playing 2 for the Price of 1. And what did he play for?!

You guessed it: A barbecue and a new car!!!

Unfortunately for Archie, he’ll be getting neither grill nor grille.

We see him a lot on Most Expensive, One Wrong Price and Swap Meet, but it’s not often we see George Gray model for 2 for the Price of 1!

His appearance did not bring fortune to Sherie, regrettably, as the luggage was not $891, but $897.

For The Price is Right at Night, Crystal is playing for a tailgating package and NFL season tickets to any team of her choice worth over $10,000!

At least Crystal doesn’t have to live in the Los Angeles area to appreciate the tickets like in the days of when the four L.A. team sports packages that were given away.

Even celebrity guest Ludacris wishes he was playing for those!

Marc, who is seven minutes older than his twin, Marcus, joked that he just stepped on his brother on the way out!

Appropriately, they played 2 for the Price of 1 where they won tablets and rides, dinners and movie tickets for a year worth of $7,000!
